Warranty Policy

This policy applies to parts and complete bicycles that you purchase from FatbikesForYou. For consumers, the legal guarantee always comes first. For a return because you changed your mind, read it return policy.

1. Legal warranty

Your purchase must comply with the agreement and what you can reasonably expect from it. This includes product type, price, age, normal conditions of use and promises made at the time of purchase. In the Netherlands, a legal guarantee does not have a fixed general term of six months, one year or two years.

A product that becomes defective earlier than you might expect during normal use may therefore also fall under the legal warranty outside a stated manufacturer's or seller's warranty. As a seller, we remain your point of contact; you don't have to resolve a legal issue solely with the manufacturer.

2. Additional warranty agreements

For individual parts, we retain the previously offered additional terms: one year for non-electronic parts and six months for electronic parts. These terms are additional agreements and never limit or limit your legal rights. If a more favorable warranty was promised with your purchase, that promise applies.

For complete bicycles and any additional manufacturer's warranties, the warranty agreements provided with the relevant product at the time of purchase apply. Previous commitments remain valid. Ask us for the terms and conditions if they are unclear. You can invoke your statutory warranty directly with us.

3. Normal wear and tear, assembly, and use

Normal wear and tear and damage actually caused by an accident, misuse, incorrect assembly, insufficient maintenance, or an unsuitable modification do not fall under a claim for an original product defect. Tires, brake pads, chains, and batteries can wear out, but an unexpectedly early defect can indeed constitute a defect. Not every defect in a wear part is normal wear and tear.

We also assess moisture or water damage based on the cause and what you could reasonably expect from the product during normal use. Self-assembly, an opened package, or a modification to the bicycle does not automatically invalidate all statutory warranty rights. It must involve a connection between the action and the damage in question.

4. Reporting a problem

  1. Contact us via info@fatbikesforyou.nl or WhatsApp.
  2. Describe the problem and preferably include your order number or other proof of purchase. Photos or a video can help; the absence thereof does not automatically exclude a claim.
  3. Give us a reasonable opportunity to examine the product. If inspection of the bicycle or the part is necessary, we will agree on how this will be done and how any transport will be arranged.

Report a defect as soon as possible after discovery. A report by a consumer within two months of discovery is in any case considered timely. There is no general requirement to report all defects within seven days of delivery.

Do not continue using a potentially unsafe product. Do not send a damaged, leaking, hot, or swollen battery without consultation.

5. Investigation and burden of proof

If a defect manifests itself in a consumer purchase within one year after delivery, it is in principle presumed that the product did not already conform to the agreement at the time of delivery, unless the nature of the product or the defect precludes this. If we assert that misuse is the cause, we must substantiate this where required by law. A mere presumption of misuse is not sufficient grounds to reject a claim.

After the first year, we assess the complaint based on statutory rules of evidence and all available information. Investigation may be necessary to distinguish between a product defect, wear and tear, or damage caused by use.

6. Solution and costs

Under statutory warranty, you are in principle entitled to free repair or replacement within a reasonable period and without serious inconvenience. We take your choice into account; a solution may be refused if it is impossible or causes disproportionate costs in relation to the alternative, as determined by law.

The necessary costs, including investigation, parts, labor, and transport, are borne by us in the event of a valid statutory warranty claim. Please give us the opportunity to resolve the problem first before you independently order a paid repair from a third party. Statutory exceptions remain applicable.

If repair or replacement is not possible, is not performed properly, is refused, or does not take place within a reasonable period, or if the law allows for this for any other reason, you may be entitled to a price reduction or dissolution. In the case of a minor defect, full dissolution may be excluded. A credit voucher is only a solution if you agree to it.

If a problem turns out to fall outside the statutory or agreed warranty, we will only carry out a paid repair after your approval. Any investigation or transport costs outside the warranty must be clearly agreed upon with you in advance; we will not impose these unexpectedly afterwards.
